Brazos Valley Child Abduction Response Team (BVCART)
When a child is abducted or goes missing under dangerous circumstances, no single agency should have to respond alone. The Brazos Valley Child Abduction Response Team (BVCART) is a multi-agency team of law enforcement and emergency communications partners who pool their resources to help rescue abducted children and, when appropriate, assist in missing and endangered children cases.
BVCART is a program of the Amber Alert Network Brazos Valley (AANBV). Each participating agency has signed a memorandum of understanding committing to this coordinated, regional response.
Why BVCART Matters
The first hours of a child abduction case are critical. BVCART allows agencies across the Brazos Valley to quickly share personnel, expertise, and resources so investigators can move faster than any one department could on its own.
Trained and Ready
Since its formal launch in 2010, BVCART members have trained regularly through tabletop exercises, case studies, and new member classes. The team has also conducted mock child abduction field exercises in Caldwell, College Station, Madisonville, and Navasota. In 2011, BVCART completed an on-site assessment by the U.S. Department of Justice AMBER Alert Training and Technical Assistance Program.
